When should I use HydraGloss?

HydraGloss can be a very versatile tool in the colorist’s toolbox. It is perfect for depositing glossy color for clients who don’t want long-term commitment, refreshing faded all-over color, blending grays for a softer regrowth appearance, adding dimension to lightened hair for lower-maintenance blonde looks, restoring shine to dull hair, color balancing, and toning. It is suitable for straight, wavy, curly, and coily hair textures.

Does HydraGloss need to be applied with an applicator bottle or bowl and brush?

HydraGloss formula’s gel consistency makes it perfect for application with either bowl and brush or applicator bottle.

What is the processing time for HydraGloss?

Processing time is 20 minutes. Like all oxidative color, this formula is progressive and will continue to get darker the longer it’s left to process.

What kind of developer should I use with HydraGloss?

HydraGloss should be used with PRAVANA ChromaSilk Zero Lift Creme Developer with a 1:1 mixing ratio.

Can HydraGloss be used on previously lightened hair?

Yes, HydraGloss is safe to use on previously lightened hair.

Does HydraGloss provide a matte or glossy finish?

HydraGloss shades provide a glossy finish with up to 2X the shine compared to untreated hair.

Does HydraGloss contain ammonia?

No, HydraGloss is an ammonia-free demi-permanent hair color.

Can HydraGloss be applied to dry and damp hair?

Yes, HydraGloss can be applied to either dry or damp hair. Applying on excessively wet hair may result in a lighter deposit.

Can HydraGloss be used on previously colored hair?

Yes, HydraGloss can be applied to previously colored hair and is perfect for refreshing faded color and restoring shine.

Can I use HydraGloss on gray hair?

Yes, HydraGloss will provide up to 50% gray blending for beautiful multi-dimensional results on gray hair.

Is HydraGloss progressive?

Yes, like all oxidative color, this formula is progressive and will continue to get darker the longer it’s left to process.

What is the mixing ratio for HydraGloss?

The mixing ratio is 1:1 – 1-part HydraGloss and 1-part PRAVANA ChromaSilk Zero Lift Creme Developer.

Do I need to do a patch test?

Yes, we always recommend performing a patch test before using any PRAVANA hair color.

What are the usage instructions for HydraGloss?

In a non-metallic bowl, mix 1-part PRAVANA ChromaSilk HydraGloss Demi-Permanent Gel Hair Color with 1-part PRAVANA ChromaSilk Zero Lift Creme Developer (1:1) and apply. Process up to 20 minutes.

Can I intermix HydraGloss shades to create custom formulas?

Yes, all shades of HydraGloss can be intermixed to create custom formulas. You can also use HydraGloss Clear to dilute your formulations and customize the level of deposit.

How should I use the clear shade?

HydraGloss Clear is formulated with an extra dose of cationic conditioner so it can be used as a standalone shine treatment. It can also be mixed with any other HydraGloss shade to customize the level of deposit.

Can HydraGloss be applied to the hair shaft while ChromaSilk permanent hair color is processing on the roots?

Yes, HydraGloss can be applied on the same head as ChromaSilk permanent, however, we recommend using ChromaSilk permanent to refresh the ends as well when doing root touch ups.

How long do HydraGloss shades last?

These shades will last up to 30 shampoos when used with PRAVANA Color Protect Shampoo.

Can I use HydraGloss on curly hair?

Yes, HydraGloss is suitable for curly, coily, wavy, and straight hair.

Can I mix HydraGloss shades with Pravana ChromaSilk Permanent, Express Tones, or Platinum Toners shades?

No, we do not recommend mixing HydraGloss shades with shades from our other color collections.
